Young Guitarists Invited to Express Their Creativity in the National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora

The national music education program BeatAgora announces the launch of the second edition of the National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora, a contest dedicated to young musicians from high schools across Romania. The competition will take place between January 12 and February 8, 2026, and aims to give teenagers passionate about guitar the opportunity to discover their artistic voice and showcase their talent in a competitive and creative environment. Participation is free.

BeatAgora is a national alternative music education program initiated by Zoli Toth together with BRD Groupe Société Générale and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Research. The program promotes the role of music in the harmonious development of new generations and aims to stimulate young people’s interest in music, encourage creativity, and support the formation of new local bands.

“We believe that every child should have the chance to pick up a musical instrument and experience moments that stimulate creativity. For us, learning guitar is not just about technique, but especially about the courage to find your own voice and the freedom to express yourself. The National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora is an invitation for young people to explore their sound, emotion, and artistic identity. When we provide them with instruments, resources, and real support, we are not only shaping musicians, but also building communities and creating space for stories that truly deserve to be heard,” says Zoli Toth, the program’s initiator.

The first edition of the competition brought together young guitarists from several cities across the country, and their performances demonstrated students’ growing interest in music and their desire for artistic expression through the instrument.

To register for the National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora, 2nd Edition, high school students are invited to submit video recordings between 2 and 5 minutes long that include a solo improvisation moment. Both original compositions and cover performances are accepted. Registration is done by completing the form here: https://forms.gle/ggMEPZ6z4j2jo4ii9

Submitted materials will be evaluated by a jury made up of well-known guitarists from Romania’s music industry, based on criteria such as instrumental technique, precision and clarity of execution, expressiveness, musicality, creativity, quality of improvisation, and the coherence of the performance with the backing track, where applicable.

As part of the National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora, 2nd Edition, the following prizes will be awarded.
First Prize: 1,500 RON and a diploma.
Second Prize: 1,000 RON and a diploma.
Third Prize: 800 RON and a diploma.

Winners will also have the opportunity to perform live alongside a band at an event organized by BeatAgora.

The registration deadline is February 8, 2026. Full details about the rules, technical requirements, and the competition schedule are available on the project’s official page: https://www.beatagora.ro.

The National Solo Guitar Competition – BeatAgora, 2nd Edition is part of a series of initiatives through which BeatAgora aims to transform Romanian high schools into vibrant spaces for musical creation, where students can explore, perform, and collaborate, contributing to the development of a new generation of artists connected to their communities and to the contemporary music scene.
