Vega Trails, the cinematic chamber jazz project led by British double bassist and composer Milo Fitzpatrick (founding member of Portico Quartet), will perform live in Bucharest this Thursday, February 12, after 7 PM at Control Club.

Opening the evening is one of Romania’s most acclaimed young jazz bands, 7th Sense, performing a special unplugged duo set.

Vega Trails is an expansive chamber jazz project with strong cinematic undertones, founded by Milo Fitzpatrick alongside saxophonist Jordan Smart (Mammal Hands, Sunda Arc).

In 2024, Vega Trails returned with Sierra Tracks, an album inspired by the mountainous landscapes of the Sierra de Guadarrama in Spain, where Fitzpatrick relocated in 2022. The record naturally extends the aesthetic of the project’s debut, Tremors in the Static, incorporating piano, vibraphone, and string arrangements to create a richer, more narrative-driven and cinematic sound.

Deeply influenced by Fitzpatrick’s connection to nature and post-pandemic reflection, Sierra Tracks evokes mountain trails, vast open spaces, and moments of contemplation. Each composition unfolds like a sonic story about movement, memory, and emotional clarity. Jordan Smart remains a central voice within the project, joined by collaborators including pianist Taz Modi and vibraphonist Harriet Riley.

The concert at Control Club promises an immersive live experience, inviting the audience into the introspective and expansive sonic world of Sierra Tracks, presented in an intimate setting perfectly suited to the project’s subtle dynamics and emotional depth.

Opening the night, 7th Sense will perform in a stripped-down duo format. Lucas and Sergiu will present unplugged reinterpretations of tracks from their album Light in Chaos, alongside new compositions set to appear on their upcoming release scheduled for later this year.

An event dedicated to contemporary jazz and cinematic music enthusiasts, the evening offers a sonic journey bridging inner landscapes and the natural world.
