Romania is discovering a new kind of cultural experience: “Who’s On Stage?”

2026 brings a project that changes the rules of the game. “Who’s On Stage?” is a series of surprise events held in locations revealed only at the very last moment. The audience signs up, waits for clues, and eventually discovers live performances by local or international artists from a wide range of artistic fields, including performance art, music, theatre, literature, painting, dance, magic, film, and more.

In short, it is secret art in secret spaces. Or, in other words, a true cultural blind date.

The official launch took place on February 3 in Bucharest at J’ai Bistrot, and it was exactly the kind of evening that proves surprises are better when you do not know what to expect. The audience enjoyed three special artistic moments: an emotional theatre-dance performance by actor Paul Cimpoieru, a solo act by Ioana Vivisenco, and the night concluded with an energetic live set by the band We Singing Colors. The atmosphere was warm, curious, and enthusiastic. The first edition was completely sold out, with all spots filled for more than two hours of experiences that passed far too quickly.

“We’ve been working on this concept for quite some time and we’re incredibly happy to see it come to life. The first edition felt like a dream: wonderful artists, a perfect space, and exactly the kind of audience we hoped for, open, curious, and engaged. We’ve already opened registrations for the second edition and we’re very excited to see how quickly the spots fill up,” said Cristina Choleva and Bogdan Munteanu, two of the co-founders of “Who’s On Stage?”.

The series continues, and the next edition will take place on March 9. Registrations are already open, and all details can be found on their social media pages and on the dedicated Facebook event page.

To be part of the audience, participants must complete the registration form. If selected, they will receive a confirmation email between March 2 and March 8. After confirming attendance and the number of participants, they will receive the details of the secret location on the morning of March 9. The venue could be a bar, a house, a studio, or another unconventional space. Access is based on artist support, and the artists remain a mystery until arrival.

Where and who? That can only be discovered by signing up and being selected.
