You’ve probably recognized the lyrics or, if not, I am sure you already like them. These lyrics were the first ever posted on my Instagram account. There are from We Are The Empty’s song “Green Roses”, probably my favorite song from them. 

I discovered WATE about two years ago on Montage Rock, when I was looking for some new bands to listen to and I fell in love with their songs. For the first time ever I was shook, I couldn’t stop listening to their songs, they were all amazing and I’ve learnt new things from all of them. They’ve got a unique style and powerful lyrics with a strong message.

Unfortunately, they are not as popular as they deserve. Seeing this, I’ve decided to make a rock-metal Instagram page to promote amazing bands that are very underrated, as WATE. I was surprised to sign in into my account the next day and see this…

But who are WATE? If you search for them on the Internet you’ll only find that they are an American band, which has released its first set of songs in 2014 and has 4 EPs/albums: We Are The Empty, Luna, Runaway and Solis.

I decided to contact them and ask few questions about them. Kenny had the courtesy of giving me some minutes and answer them. Man, if you’re reading this right now, thank you for everything!

RM: Why did you start the band?

Kenny: To find the cure to emptiness.

RM: Who are your rock stars idols / band idols?

Kenny: SOAD, Starset, Fair To Midland, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, 10 Years, BMTH, HU, Opeth, Katatonia, Shahmen, TesseracT, and most importantly, Eldest 11. 

RM: Out of all the songs  you’ve written so far, which one do you think is the best?

Kenny: Autumn Romance. It captures WATE’s overall vibe pretty well. It also has the best/most emotional vocals of any WATE song thus far!

RM: What concert do you think was your most successful concert and why?

Kenny: No concerts have happened as of yet. It is the absolute fucking dream to tour one day. I hope with everything that I’ve got that it happens, but it’s been a struggle to find members. Yep you’ve heard that right. I, Kenny am the only member of the band and it’s been this way for the most part since the beginning.Finding the right people is the hardest thing in the world. There are a lot of flakes out there, but I won’t give up. Hope to meet you all one day while out on the road so we can kick it. Let’s dream together!

RM: What inspires you to release new songs?

Kenny: A burning passion to create because we feel like it is one of our biggest purposes as human. When we don’t create, we feel empty.

RM: What is your message to all your fans and people who are going to read this article?

Kenny: There is a cure to depression, anxiety, emptiness, numbness, and the thousands of other ailments out there. Don’t let a condition define you just because it’s the social norm to be sad. Think outside the box and be a warrior! In fighting, you effectively take control and ascend. We are here to help and guide, but the other and biggest 50% is up to you. I strongly recommend listening to this amazing band and if you are thinking that they are going to be the future stars of world rock show them some support. The rock music is for the people, so the people also have the power to decide who deserves to rule this world.
