On 7th of June, at Sweden Rock Festival, The Dark Element made their live debut.

In case you’ve missed it, The Dark Element is a new ambitious project of two legends of Symphonic Metal, Anette Olzon, ex-singer for Alyson Avenue (1999-2005) and Nightwish (2007-2012), and Jani Liimatainen, the songwriter and the guitarist of Cain’s Offering, well-known for his time in Sonata Arctica (1996-2007) and Altaria (2000-2002).

The other two members of the band are Jonas Kuhlberg, guitarist for Cain’s Offering, and Jani Hurula, drummer for Cain’s Offering.

Their first album (also named “The Dark Element”) was released on November 10, 2017, and it is the first album recorded by Anette Olzon after “Shine”(2014), her solo album. According to the ratings and the reviews, it was a success…and I also can say it is one of the best if not the best metal album released in 2017.

The news are saying that a new album is in work, so there are reasons to stay hyped! (Loudwire)

Few days ago, I’ve decided to contact Anette to make a short interview about her new band. Before you can read it, I want to thank Anette for her kindness to accept it!

RM: Why did you name the band “The Dark Element”?

Anette: It was actually the record label who put this as our name, so it’s them behind this.

RM: Do you like the collaboration with Jani? Why?

Anette: Yes, I do. He is a great song writer who makes songs perfect for me and I must say he is the best one who has written songs for me cause he listens to my wishes and make them suitable for my voice.

RM: Which song from your first album is your favourite and why?

Anette: So many and it changes all the time, but I really love “Last Good Day” due to the lyrics in it.

RM: You have performed only in Finland and Sweden till now. Are there any plans for shows or a tour in other countries?

Anette: We’re playing in Japan  and Sweden in October and next year we’ll see.

RM: Do you have any message for your fans who are going to read this article?

Anette: Thanks to everyone who has bought our album and seen our shows and likes what we do❀️

I see that The Dark Element is taking over the world, so be prepared! Down there are my favourite songs, check them out!

Excellent interview! The Dark Element is an amazing project, and each musician in the band is immensely talented. If the debut album is ant indication, then we’re in for nothing less than a masterpiece for the next album! 😊
