Tour of Underground’s next stop is Whakatane, a small town from New Zealand, where we find Aura Of Chaos.

Aura Of Chaos is a new metalcore band who released their first single, “Beneath” feat. Timo Bonner on 16th of February 2017.

The band has five members: Rhys Cheesman (Vocals), Blake Cheesman (Guitar), Josh Moore (Guitar), Johnny Murray (Bass) and Josef Stoove (Drums).

After I’ve heard that their first ever song, I’ve decided to contact them and ask some questions about them. Blake was very kind and answered to all of them, so special thanks to him!

RM: Why have you made the band and where does the name come from?

Blake: We have all grown up listening to music, and have been playing music for most of our lives. The band was made for a bunch of reasons, but mainly to have an amazing time and meet awesome people. Rhys Cheesman, our vocalist, came up with Aura of Chaos.

RM: Who are your rock stars idols / band idols?

Blake: Our rockstars/idols include Jason Richardson, Slash, Danny Worsop, CJ McMahon, Timo Bonner, our supporters, and our friends.

RM: What song that you’ve made do you think is the best and why?

Blake:  I can’t speak for the whole on this one, as we all have different favourites. However I would have to say ‘Lies’ which is being released on December 10 on our upcoming EP ‘Misconception’. This song is my favourite because the message portrayed is extremely relevant to all the people who feel like they don’t have a voice or a choice on what they do in life.

RM: What inspires you to release new songs?

Blake:  We are inspired to write songs that people can relate to, and that we love to play. If we can help people follow their own dreams and face the things that are holding them back, then our work is complete.

RM: In your opinion, is there any disadvantage to be a metal band in NZ in comparision to USA or Europe?

Blake:  There are many disadvantages about being a metal band in New Zealand. However, the thing is there is also many advantages. Because it is so much harder in New Zealand to pack shows and gain a following due to the popularity of metal compared to USA or Europe, it takes a lot more resilience and failure to make it. This most definitely builds us as musicians and as people in general. Not many New Zealand bands make it internationally. Aura of Chaos will be one of the few.

RM: How would a dream concert be for you?

Blake: We regularly play our dream concerts, infront of our best mates and incredible supporters. A goal would definitely be to play the festivals like Glastonbury or Wacken

RM: What is your message for all your fans and people who are going to read this article?

Blake: We would like to thank everybody who has taken the time out of their lives to listen to our craft. The people who love it, the people who hate it, and the people who laugh in our face saying “Do people seriously listen to this screaming nonsense”. We love them all, and cannot express how greatful we are. More than anything we want these people to succeed and persue something that has meaning to them, rather than falling into the trap of society.

I can’t express how impressed I was by Blake’s passion and answers. I really hope that soon I’ll hear that Aura Of Chaos is invited at Glastonbury or Wacken, but until then you can search them of you want to hear more amazing songs!
