Summer Well festival is just one month away and it’s time to talk with one of our favourite bands from the line-up!
We are talking about Zola Blood, the indie band from London, who reminds us of another amazing band from UK, this time from Leicester, Kasabian.
After their amazing success with their first EP realeasd in 2014, they become more and more popular all around the world.
Are they going to be part of the amazing rock history of UK? What should their fans expect from their show from Summer Well this summer? We have talked with Sam Cunnington, the drummer of Zola Band, who gave us some answers:
You’re a band from England, a country with amazing tradition in rock music. How does it feel to be part of this tradition?
The UK does have an amazing rock tradition, but we probably wouldn’t consider ourselves part of it. We all started off with guitars, but we’re proud to be part of the UK electronic music scene that’s produced giants like Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Four Tet, Jon Hopkins and many more.
It’s your first show in Romania. What do you know about the country and about the Summer Well festival?
We have friends from Romania and know a little bit about the country, but none of us have ever travelled there. We don’t have a lot of time, but we’re going to stick around for the weekend to soak up the festival and see Bucharest. Summer Well always seems to get great line-ups so we’re excited to be part of it.
What are your expectations for Summer Well?
We’ve been away for a while – we released our record in 2017 so we have a lot of new songs to play. We haven’t tested them live, so it’s a bit of an experiment. There’s a bunch of acts we want to catch, Maribou State have a studio across the street from us in London and we’ve never seen them live. We also want to see The National, Son Lux and David August. British festivals tend to be rain soaked, so some sunshine would be good too!
What should Romania expect from your show?
We try and make our live show bigger than the records and keep it equal parts delicate and visceral. Ultimately, we want to make people dance.
What plans do you have for 2019?
We have a couple of festivals and have just finished a new EP. We’re planning a European tour in Autumn and might be back to Romania!
Do you have any message for your fans and people who are going to attend at your show?
Thanks for staying with us – we can’t wait to play for you.
