We always think about past and future in music. We always think about the next legends of rock and metal. Today we are going to talk about (and with) the new stars of Portugal and probably the future legends of alternative metal, Nowhere To Be Found.

This amazing project started not long ago, but more and more people are considering the fact that NTBF can be as big as BMTH or Architects.
The band has become known all over the world after the collaborations with Emily Lazar (September Mourning) and Matty Mullins (Memphis May Fire).
What do the members of NTBF think about their success and about their future? We’ve talked with them and here are their answers:

Why did you create the band?
Well that’s a million dollar question right there! [laughter] I guess when you’re growing up and choosing who you want to be and how you want to connect with people, how you want to express your feelings, music speaks. I guess we made this band cause we needed a way to express ourselves and we were lousy painters.
Where does the name come from?
It actually comes from the previous band some of us had, called “insch”, which we decided to disband and for some time the pun was “insch is nowhere to be found”. When we started considering new names it kinda stuck.
Who are your idols, as a band?
That’s a really really hard question to answer, cause we listen to super different things, the four of us. Manel (bass) is more of an indie guy, Migalhas (drums) is pop and punk, Tiago (vocals) is grunge and new metal, and Quintais (lead guitar) is a metalhead. So that question is almost impossible to answer. Right now we do have a couple bands we all listen and lookup to, Bring Me The Horizon and Architects. In their own ways and visions, both are making incredible paths.
Which one of the songs you have released do you think is the best and why?
The best song we’ve released is Traverse. The instrumental is solid, the lyrics are meaningful, Matty Mullins features on it and the fans really liked it. It’s super cool to have a song you feel people relate to.
What inspires you to write and release new songs?
Our lives, our wins and frustrations. Some guys do drugs, some guys pick up a surfboard, some guys jump from a plane… everyone has their own way to deal with day-to-day life, we chose music. It’s our therapy.
Do you think that NTBF will be the biggest band in Portugal in few years?
Hahaha WE WILL! [laughter] Well that’s a really hard question, cause if you think of bands making music in portuguese, you have incredible bands who inspired us a lot like Ornatos Violeta and if we turn to broader audiences, we have Moonspell or More Than A Thousand, who play major festivals all over Europe every year. Portugal doens’t have a very big music scene, specially in heavier genres, but you may have heard and loved some incredible songs not knowing they were from portuguese bands.
What plans do you have for the last 4 months of 2019?
These 4 months will be exciting as hell! In september we’ll release the video teaser for our next single, then early October we’ll air on North American CBS as part of their new alternative rock show “Sounds Of The Underground”, reaching millions of american homes. In early november we’re expecting to launch our next single and somewhere in there record the next 2-3 singles we’ve been finishing up.
But for 2020?
2020 looks exciting! We hope to finally take the big step and get to play some abroad shows we’re waiting for a long time. We expect to launch a couple more singles and maybe, just maybe, finish the album. We’re not focused on the “album” format, as we decided to launch individual good singles, with cool videos.
Which countries would you like to include in your next tour?
Our priority will be to play central europe (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands), where alternative metal has a big big traction, as well as the UK. US, Australia and South America would be a dream come true but we know for now it’s a longer shot.
Do you have any messages for your fans and the people who are going to read this article?
We would like to humbly thank everyone who loves and shares what we do, we really feel blessed for all the feedback we get daily through social media. We know it’s a lot easier to listen and love huge bands who everyone knows who they are and so, being an independent band from a small country, we do appreciate all the support.
