When it comes to atmospheric post black metal, Váthos exceeded our expectations with their debut album, “Underwater”. It was released not a long time ago, on April 11th.

The album begins with “Ruins of Corrosion”, a very powerful song, which is exactly what it takes to surprise the listeners. Taking a closer look to this unique album, a few aspects deserve to be pointed out. “The Suicide” offered us some great interludes which take you by surprise and put you in a kind of trance. Generally speaking, Váthos’ album deserved a bit more bass, but in “Corrupted Mind”, a strange and ambiguous track, it sounds very nice.

My personal favourites from “Underwater” are “Shape of…” and “Hold My Breath”. The former contains amazing and relaxing transitions, the signature of atmospheric music. The latter brings forward Radu’s slightly different vocals.

Váthos created a very good first album with great alternation between tracks.
