CHAOSEUM is a swiss quartet which was founded in 2018 by Loic Duruz and Valery Veings, both former guitarists of the symphonic/power metal band ELFERYA. Their new band, however, has no symphonic elements and can be described as metalcore.

Their first album “First Step To Hell” containing 11 songs was released in September of the same year with Lola van Lo as the singer and Greg Turini as the drummer, both former ELFERYA musicians as well. This album was recorded at the Chaos Studio and mixed by Izakar at the Full Metal Studio.

The cover of the album is appropriately illustrated and of very high quality. The artist Gustavo Sazes has done a terrific job. It won’t help little children to fall asleep, but it for sure punches the band’s hellish personality through the screen.

CHAOSEUM are definitely setting their standards up a notch following their debut album. Their sound has matured and has gained more confidence and heaviness throughout their new album, “Second life”, released on September 25th, 2020. It is recorded at both the Chaos Studio and the Conatus Studio. Gwen Kerjan from the Slab Sound Studio is in charge of the mix, and as always, Gustavo Sazestakes takes care of the artwork.

CHAOSEUM is definitely going to be an instant favourite for fans of the likes of bands like KORN, but it definitely doesn’t do this band justice to compare it to anything heard before in the metal scene.

CHAOSEUM is all about rock-out-loud, heavy, headbanging, dissonant riffs mixed with eerie, quieter passages to build up the tension until it explodes into hellish catchy choruses, fueled by face-melting drum attacks and deep guttural growls thrown into the mix, next to CK Smile’s mesmerizing vocals.

“Hell Has No Way Out” starts off their album by melting your face with the band’s representative melodic guitar. The song is peppered with well-placed breaks and tempo changes.

“Sex in Hell” is a devilish, heavily atmospheric song. It also features a remarkable guitar solo by guest musician Julian Barrett. This tune kicks your expectations away with the incredibly beautiful acoustic section which ends it.

“Frozen” the last song on this album is an exceptionally original piece of work, featuring an amazing guitar riff. Before the last chorus, the song takes you somewhere far away with a tribal drum sequence. Definitely takes the spot as my favourite song on the album.
