The American band Of Wolves from Chicago released their latest album “Balance” in July 2020.

Started as a response to all the moronic and absurdity that greed and control have trapped us all into, “Balance” represents a mixture of jams that soon took shape as a complex album that combines stoner punk along with death metal and hardcore influences. Addressing different subjects such as disillusionment, humanity, injustice, politics and religion, it is an album that stands out through its heavy guitar riffs and schizophrenic vocals.
“Balance is what got me through the hardest of times” admits Steve Sherwood, the vocalist and guitarist; and so, this musical project arises.
A 9-track album, it begins with a heavy and powerful song, “Mens Rea” that truly showcases the madness and rage of some people who are sick of the worth-less humans in our society, expressed through a death metal sound. It is a song for misunderstood people from misunderstood ones.
Jesus Jihad carries a heavy message about rebellion manifested as a war, that begins with a stoner riff and culminates with feminine vocals.
I have to say that “Flavor of the week” was really an interesting one – a 17 seconds long track that repeats the same verse for 2 times. An intense but short sequence, such as the pleasure of the weak ones.
With Tool influences and a groove that feels like a broken heart, “Balance” is one of the most iconic anthems of the musical project, that gradually intensifies untill the end, when the rage and bitterness reach their peak.
You can listen to it on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
