On July 7-8, one of Romania’s most important open-air festivals returns to the public. In its 11th edition in 2023, Rock la Mureș offers two days of intense experiences to music enthusiasts and fun-seekers. This year, the organizers of the traditional festival on the banks of the Mureș River aim to exceed all expectations. Alongside a carefully crafted diverse lineup, Rock la Mureș will host several important names from the international scene, who will perform for the first time on a stage in Romania.
Unity Tx (United States), Watch me Rise (Germany), W3 4R3 NUM83R5 (Romania), Doomsday Astronaut (Romania), The Bandits (Romania), Weeping Assault (Romania), Grinder (Romania), Dizident (Romania), and Era Nouă (Romania) complete the list of bands that will perform on the main stage of the festival this summer. They join the previously announced bands: Attila (United States), Total Chaos (United States), Silenzer (Austria), Imund (Romania), and Hipersona (Turkey).

Unity TX was formed in 2014 in Dallas, United States, and after a series of obstacles and seemingly endless personal problems, the American band found stability with the release of their album “Madboy” in 2019. Their success in this endurance battle with destiny is perfectly reflected in the band’s sound, one that encapsulates a lot of anger.
Regarding all of this, Webster, the frontman of the band, declares that “nothing has ever made more sense to me than music. It was my only chance in life to pursue this path. Starting from the mud, from nothing – all these tough times motivate you to keep going.”
With a stylistically complex approach, Unity TX has managed to create a bridge across genres and patterns, making their music a hypnotizing mix that combines hardcore/metalcore-inspired breakdowns with the dark and oppressive atmosphere reminiscent of classic grunge. All of this, of course, packaged and delivered in their own unique manner that harkens back to the pioneers of the rap/rock movement.
Unity TX is a band that exudes a distinct personality, an exuberant attitude that is showcased to the highest degree in their live performances. In a continuous ascent, with shows on the biggest stages, Unity TX is the kind of band you don’t want to miss.
Hailing from Frankfurt, Germany, the emo/post-hardcore band Watch me Rise will also join this year’s edition of the Rock la Mureș festival.
With over 100 live shows under their belt and an impressive number of European tours, the band has managed to make a presence on the international stage by portraying universal but highly personal subjects in new ways. Drawing inspiration from various musical genres such as emo, punk rock, post-hardcore, and screamo, Watch Me Rise has developed a sound that, although constantly evolving, is unmistakable.
Emerging in 2014 in Brașov, Romania, the band W3 4R3 NUM83R5 has become a reference name for the metalcore scene in the country. Through impeccable live performances that seamlessly blend professionalism with the characteristic explosive energy of their style, W3 4R3 NUM83R5 has raised the bar to a new level in the local scene.
With a consistently fresh sound and a continuous stylistic expansion, the Brasov-based band has crafted their own style over time, where melodic riffs, fast-paced rhythm breaks, and piercing growls perfectly blend with subtly inserted electronic elements in the sonic landscape.
All of these factors have made W3 4R3 NUM83R5 an indispensable presence on the stage of the most important festivals in the country, such as Rockstadt Extreme Fest, Maris Fest, and Posada Rock Festival. They have also opened for some notable names in the global metal scene, including Carnifex and At The Gates.
The Bandits emerged during the turbulent times of the pandemic in Timișoara and quickly established themselves in the local rock scene. With a lineup of experienced musicians, The Bandits promise to liven up the spirits at Rock la Mureș this year in a personal and unique way.
As for their musical style, if we go by their own words – “we play Balkan rock with humor, and our songs can be hummed by anyone” – all we have to do is chill the beer. The Bandits manage to create a cheerful atmosphere where their lyrics, dripping with a special kind of humor, dance to rock’n’roll rhythms along with the audience.
Last year, the Timișoara-based band released their first full-length album, “Povești din pandemie” (Stories from the Pandemic), a meticulously crafted album that exudes positive energy. At times, some rougher riffs make themselves felt, but always with the aim of putting a smile on the audience’s face.
The bands Doomsday Astronaut, Weeping Assault, Grinder, Dizident, and Era Nouă will participate in this year’s edition of the Rock la Mureș festival as winners of the local bands’ exclusive public vote contest.
