Heartbreak Cinema will release their first single of the year, “Nymphobia,” on March 3rd through a concert at the Nook Club. The performance will be followed by a DJ set party, where Radu Bădilaș, the bassist and founding member of the band, will be spinning.

Heartbreak Cinema, one of the most vibrant current musical projects, will launch their first song of the year on March 3rd at the Nook Club in Bucharest. “Nymphobia,” their darkest single yet, tackles tough, rebellious themes and presents seduction in its most violent form, where the skin strips off eroticism, revealing suffering and fury. Inspired by the iconic brutal shoegaze style of Deftones and Depeche Mode’s album “Songs Of Faith And Devotion,” Heartbreak Cinema adds to their discography a truly unique, imposing, and raw composition. Heartbreak Cinema consists of Radu Bădilaș, Maria Teodora, George Moței, and Vlad Casian.
“‘Nymphobia,’ although it existed as a song and concept before the single ‘Fuckaholic,’ we decided to release it later, in order to understand the subject in more detail first, empathizing with the victims of sexual abuse, and then being able to give them a voice, to reveal what they went through, and again, to raise the level of importance and accountability. With the new single, we sound an alarm about the possibility of the victim/victims’ vicious, even tragic, destiny, for whom there is no compassion, emotional support, and involvement from those around them,” Maria Teodora, about “Nymphobia.”
“Nymphobia” tells the story of a princess from a long-gone era who was a victim of rape, being assaulted even by the people who served her. Nowadays, the story has become a legend, and the mansion where she lived is believed to be haunted to this day by the princess turned nymph, with the eternal goal of seducing unwitting victims who enter the residence, in order to kill them and take revenge for the traumas suffered. The single was released on streaming platforms on February 23rd and will receive a music video in the coming period.
This is just the first of several singles that the band plans to release in the first half of the year, followed by composition and production sessions for the next, more extensive and ambitious material, which will demonstrate the band’s evolution from the eponymous EP until now.
