Underground for the Masses III: Black Metal Festival at Quantic, Bucharest, April 23 to 25, 2026

Underground for the Masses reaches its third edition and will take place between April 23 and 25, 2026, at Quantic. A festival organized by fans for fans, it brings together a wide selection of bands from across the black metal spectrum, ranging from classic forms, blackened death metal and ritual black metal to post black metal.

The lineup for this edition includes established names as well as underground projects.

Naglfar, from Sweden, active since 1992, combine aggression with elaborate technique in their black metal. Albums such as Vittra, Diabolical, Téras and Cerecloth have strengthened their presence on the Nordic scene. Among bands, Naglfar stand out for their compositional coherence and performance intensity, while their constant appearance on compilations reflects the influence and respect they have earned within the genre.

Tsjuder, from Norway, began their activity in 1993 and quickly established themselves in the Nordic black metal scene through an intense and austere sound. Their albums include Desert Northern Hell, Antiliv and Helvegr, each reinforcing their reputation. The band has also paid tribute to the genre’s fundamental influences through the EP Tsjuder Tribute to Bathory Scandinavian Black Metal Attack.

Whoredom Rife, from Norway, formed in 2014, explore black metal with influences from Norse mythology. Their albums include Dommedagskvad, Nid Hymner av hat, Winds of Wrath and Den vrede makt, establishing a recognizable style.

Varathron, a band founded in 1988 by Spiros in Greece, is a central presence in the Hellenic black metal scene. From His Majesty at the Swamp to The Crimson Temple, their albums build a coherent and distinct musical language. This year, the band marks 38 years of activity.

Darvaza, active since 2015, operate as an international duo and explore black metal with clear structure and constant intensity. Albums such as Ascending into Perdition and We Are Him, alongside EPs like The Downward Descent, The Silver Chalice and Darkness in Turmoil, shape their sonic identity. Among bands, Darvaza stand out for the rigor of their live performances and well defined compositions, maintaining the attention of the black metal community.

ArsGoatia, from Austria, active since 2021, operate within contemporary black metal. Through albums like Hiding Amongst Humans and Agitators of Hysteria, the band develops an authentic sound built on compact compositions and a direct aesthetic. Their musical direction preserves the roots of the genre, filtered through a modern approach.

Nazghor, from Sweden, have been crafting their material since 2012, focusing on black metal centered on themes such as Satanism and the denial of religious existence. After a series of releases over the years, including Infernal Aphorism and Seventh Secular Crusade, the band recently returned with the album A World Ablaze, continuing the intensity and atmosphere that define their style.

Tabula Rasa, from Austria, have been composing since 2022 in a blackened heavy metal and punk register. Releases such as Der Wildmensch, …und ihre fürchterlichen Gesänge and Ausschweifungen highlight an energetic, unpolished style based on dynamism and direct attack.

Malhkebre, from France, active since 2002, operate in the realm of extreme black metal. Albums such as Revelation and Satanic Resistance, alongside multiple demos and EPs, define a consistent, uncompromising direction firmly rooted in the underground spirit.

Antikvlt, an international duo formed in 2023, explore black metal centered on social themes. Among their releases are the singles No Rest for the Sacred, Red Light Suicide, In Dependency and What Love Can’t Buy, followed by the album A Revelation of Intoxication, all characterized by intensity and a direct message.

Ritualization, a band active in France since 2006, fit within the blackened death metal sphere, building their discography around anti religious themes. Their works include The Abduction Mass, the split The Vision of Fading Mankind, EPs such as Beyond the Shrine of Shattered Bones and Hema Ignis Necros, as well as the album Sacraments to the Sons of the Abyss.

Decline of the I, from France, active since 2006, develop a conceptual post black metal with philosophical accents. Their first three albums form a trilogy inspired by the experiments of neurobiologist Henri Laborit, while later materials explore the ideas of Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. Their releases include Inhibition, Rebellion, Escape and Johannes, alongside several single releases that expand this conceptual direction.

Umbra Conscientia, from Costa Rica, active since 2018, approach black metal with themes related to occultism and philosophical reflection. Albums such as Yellowing of the Lunar Consciousness and Nigredine Mundi reflect an atmospheric and dense approach to the genre.

Temple of Baal, a French project founded in 1998 by Amduscias, operates in the black and death metal sphere. Over the years, they have released demos such as Satanas Lux Solis and Black Unholy Presence, splits and albums including Servants of the Beast, Traitors to Mankind, Lightslaying Rituals, Verses of Fire and Mysterium, complemented by the live release Rituals of Black Plague.

Mallephyr, from the Czech Republic, active since 2013, blend elements of death and black metal in compositions marked by anti religious themes, misanthropy and nihilism. Their discography includes the demo Demo 2014 and the albums Assailing the Holy, Womb of Worms and Ruins of Inner Composure.

Pénitence Onirique, from France, active since 2015, explore black metal inspired by alchemy, esotericism and introspection. Albums such as V.I.T.R.I.O.L., Vestige and Nature morte, alongside the single Aphonie, reflect the band’s focus on complex themes and introspective atmosphere.

Patristic, from Italy, active since 2022, perform blackened death metal. The project’s concept is inspired by patristic philosophy and early Christian, pagan and Gnostic concepts. Their discography includes the EP Apologetica and the album Catechesis.

Proch, from Poland, active since 2013, approach black metal centered on anti Christian themes. Their catalog includes demos such as Urna and Promo 2016, as well as the albums Trupi synod and Odmieniec.

Deathless Void, from the Netherlands, emerged in 2022 and operate at the intersection of black and death metal. Their debut The Voluptuous Fire of Sin marks the beginning of their discographic journey, with more to be revealed on stage.

Sektarism, a French project oriented toward funeral doom metal, constructs a ritualistic atmosphere. Their discography includes the EP L’offrande, demos such as Hosanna Sathana and Le testament, as well as the albums Le son des stigmates, La mort de l’infidèle, Fils de Dieu and Et Facta Est Lux.

Quantic will provide full facilities for attendees, including a food and drinks menu. During the festival, official event merchandise inspired by the visual identity created by Manuel Scapinello of Manuel Scapinello Illustration will also be available.
