Ideas, policies, and practices: a program built around the major themes of the live music industry

The 2026 edition brings a complex program, built across multiple thematic directions and formats. Conferences and panels will address essential topics for the live music ecosystem, grouped around major themes. The cultural policies and industry area proposes discussions such as The Live Music Ecosystem in Europe: Growth, Concentration and Diversity, a dialogue about who controls Europe’s stages and how this influences artistic diversity, or Regulation as a Growth Enabler, which analyzes the role of the legislative framework in sector development.

The dimension of values and civic responsibility opens with the panel VALUES FIRST: Why There Is No Conference Without a Compass, which sets the direction for the entire conference, followed by conversations such as What Are We Building? Festivals, Freedom and the Minds of a Generation, about the cultural impact of festivals on new generations.

In the technology and innovation area, participants will explore themes such as The Values We Code: Technology, AI and the Ethics of the Music Ecosystem, a reflection on how new technologies influence the music industry and its values. This also includes applied discussions on data aggregation and process efficiency in the sector.

Another key pillar is event safety, through a dedicated track of Event Safety PRO workshops and sessions, including modules such as Crowd Control & Crowd Safety or Seconds to Disaster, developed in partnership with specialized institutions. These are complemented by practical workshops on command structures, case studies, and applied simulations.

The program includes sessions dedicated to artist and industry professional development, such as From Showcase to Stadium, about scaling artistic careers, or Women Driving Music Industry Growth, which highlights women’s role in global music industry development. In parallel, workshops offer concrete tools for streamlining production, management, and collaboration processes.

For young people starting out, May 23 is dedicated to an intensive program: Entering Live, a one-day seminar covering industry basics, entry paths, required skills, and practical simulations, in an accessible format for students and emerging professionals.

Beyond the educational component, EEMC 2026 offers cultural and networking experiences, from the opening event, a special Balkan Fusion concert, to the East European Music Conference Awards gala and showcases in iconic Bucharest venues.

Through this structure, East European Music Conference 2026 reaffirms its position as a platform connecting the entire live music industry, from education and research to production and cultural policies. More than a conference, EEMC proposes a space for meeting and reflection at a time when direct dialogue, idea exchange, and collaboration are essential for the sector’s future.
