Bucharest’s contemporary jazz scene gets another solid entry this May, as Zaharenco lands at Random House for a special live performance.
Set for May 7, the show is part of the JazzUnit series and promises a genre-blending experience that moves beyond traditional jazz structures. Zaharenco’s sound sits somewhere between modern jazz, cinematic composition, and subtle groove elements, combining classical influences with a more experimental edge.

Known for building tension between structure and improvisation, the project explores contrasts, predictability vs. chaos, minimalism vs. intensity resulting in a dynamic and emotionally wide-ranging live set.
Zaharenco debuted in November 2021 with the release of the EP Primordial Feelings. In 2024, Zaharenco released two more singles, Condition 5 and Contition 4 (Suspended in Mid-Air), both marking the lead-up to the upcoming album. Haze State was released in 2025, featuring Sergiu Bivol on trumpet.
Live Studio Sessions by LP.StudioHub is the latest release of the band. You can watch the songs on YouTube.
Expect a performance driven largely by original compositions, delivered in an intimate club setting that fits the project’s nuanced and expressive approach.
Tickets are available on IaBilet.
