April 30 won’t deal in myths, and no one will be standing still.
With an electrified audio-visual show, Baba Dochia brings a slice of Cluj-Napoca’s underground back to Control Club. A project shaped by more than a decade of constant evolution. Their sound refuses to settle, rooted in electronics but stretching into post-punk and post-rock territories, with darker tones and a cinematic drift. It’s this restless approach that keeps them slightly out of place, in the best way.

Analog synthesizers sit at the core, giving the music an organic, tactile texture something raw, but controlled. Over the years, their trajectory has been less about definition and more about transformation, each phase adding new layers and pushing further into uncharted territory.
Live, everything opens up. Baba Dochia translate that inner tension into an immersive audio-visual experience where sound and image move together building in waves, spiraling, pulling the room deeper with each shift. It’s not a linear set, but a gradual escalation, a journey that grows heavier and more consuming with time.
Hailing from Transylvania, the project began in 2006 in Sighișoara, initially inspired by the release of Team Sleep. What started as pure post-rock has since evolved into a fluid mix of electronica and rock, infused with glitch and psychedelic elements. The blend of synthesizers, distorted guitars, drum machines, and live drums has positioned them as one of the most distinctive names in Romanian alternative music.
Their sonic universe draws from artists like Death in Vegas, Trentemøller, Apparat, Archive, Amon Tobin, The Glitch Mob, and Boards of Canada with Team Sleep remaining the original catalyst.
Expect tension, release, and a set that doesn’t ask for attention it demands it.
