Sziget Festival, one of Europe’s largest and longest-running music and cultural festivals, returns in 2026 with an expanded edition. Held annually on Óbuda Island in Budapest, Sziget attracts nearly 400,000 festivalgoers from more than 70 countries, including thousands of Romanians, for whom the festival has become one of the most popular international music destinations year after year.

The 33rd edition of the festival will take place from August 11–15, 2026, and will be extended with an additional day, Day Zero, on August 10. On this special opening day, Faithless, Morcheeba, and Goran Bregović with the Wedding and Funeral Orchestra will take the stage, with ticket prices reflecting the spirit of Sziget’s earlier editions.
The announcement was made during a press conference in Budapest, where organizers unveiled the main highlights of the 2026 edition: renewed districts, an expanded arts program, the launch of the Sziget SZociety Foundation, and top headliners including Twenty One Pilots, Florence + the Machine, Lewis Capaldi, and Sombr.
The 2026 edition also brings good news regarding costs for festivalgoers: drinks will be sold at last year’s prices until 6:00 PM each day, while beer will be available at 2024 prices during the same period. The Budget-Friendly initiative will continue, offering affordable meal options at nearly every food stand.
Day Zero: A Return to the Original Spirit of Sziget
Day Zero marks a new chapter for the festival, reaffirming its founding values—freedom of expression, cultural openness, and artistic independence.
On August 10, visitors are invited on a nostalgic journey through 33 years of festival history, featuring legendary artists from previous editions and ticket prices inspired by the past. Faithless, Morcheeba, and Goran Bregović with the Wedding and Funeral Orchestra have been confirmed for this special celebration.
Tickets are already available on the festival’s official website.
2026 Headliners: Twenty One Pilots, Florence + the Machine, Lewis Capaldi and Sombr
The August 11–15 music program will bring Twenty One Pilots, Florence + the Machine, Lewis Capaldi, and Sombr to Budapest, alongside a wide range of electronic and alternative artists, including Peggy Gou, Underworld, Black Country, New Road, Richie Hawtin, Dom Dolla, Wolf Alice, Tash Sultana, Charlotte Cardin, Loyle Carner, Chet Faker, Boys Noize, Sub Focus, Soulwax, and many more.
Sziget SZociety Foundation: Supporting Youth Mental Health
Organizers also announced the launch of the Sziget SZociety Foundation, an initiative dedicated to supporting organizations and communities working with young people facing mental health challenges.
As part of the program, the SZuper SZociety Awards will be presented this year on the festival’s Main Stage.
New Districts and a Fresh Layout
Tamás Kádár, CEO of Sziget, announced significant changes to the festival layout.
In the northern part of the island, Wonderland will bring together Magic Mirror, Lightstage, and Art Garden, while dropYard will become a district dedicated to hip-hop and rap culture. Nearby, the Delta District will form a triangle of electronic music together with Yettel Colosseum, BOLT Night Stage, and Arzenál x Turbina Der Klub.
Jardin des Arts and Le Grand Theatre: Contemporary Circus, Dance and Performance
In 2026, Sziget will further strengthen its artistic offering through Jardin des Arts, a multidisciplinary district featuring contemporary circus, dance, audiovisual experiences, and interdisciplinary performances.
The new large-scale venue, Le Grand Theatre, will host productions for more than 1,500 spectators every evening. Confirmed acts include the French company Collective XY with Möbius, the Dutch company Club Guy & Roni, Australasian Dance Collective, and the co-production Bad Nature by HIIIT and Boris Acket.
Sustainability and Camping
Sustainability remains a key priority through the Green Sziget program. New initiatives include a farmers’ market featuring local seasonal products, while the tent deposit system introduced in 2025 will continue after significantly reducing the number of abandoned tents.
Camping remains one of the defining Sziget experiences, allowing visitors to pitch their tents freely across the island. For those seeking additional comfort, upgraded accommodation options and premium camping areas with enhanced facilities are also available.
All program updates are now available on the festival’s official website, where tickets are also on sale.
