On June 12, Bucharest’s Encore Club will host the first edition of The Scene, the debut event in a brand-new series initiated by Subvolt and built in collaboration with fellow promoters and key figures from the local underground community.

The concept aims to bring together the people, artists, and audiences that shape the underground scene, creating bridges between different creative circles while giving audiences access to the distinct musical tastes of those working behind the scenes.

Each edition of The Scene will follow a simple but unpredictable format: every invited organizer will select one underground band they personally appreciate, paired with one handpicked by Subvolt whether established or newly emerging that has captured attention at that particular moment in the scene. The result will be unique nights built around unexpected line-ups, surprising combinations, and entirely different experiences from one edition to another.

No two events will ever be alike. From the band selections and the organizers’ musical visions to the venues themselves, every edition will carry its own identity and atmosphere. All bets are off.

Vol. I ft. Final Step Productions

The first edition arrives in partnership with Final Step Productions, a well-known name within Romania’s metal event circuit, responsible for acclaimed productions such as the Metal Gates Festival and Shatter Fest, alongside numerous concerts featuring both important local and international artists.

For the June 12 opening edition, the organizers’ choices have aligned into a deliberately unexpected pairing: Bongladesh and Recycle Bin.

Bongladesh

Chosen by Subvolt for this first edition, Bongladesh brings together experienced musicians from Romania’s underground scene, some also active in Methadone Skies. Relatively new to the Romanian live circuit and performing in Bucharest for the very first time, the band blends epic, larger-than-life atmospheres with sludge, doom, and stoner influences under a crushingly immersive live experience.

Their music unfolds stories of moral panic, subversive activities, and disloyalty in real time, delivering performances that leave a lasting impact from the very first listen.

Recycle Bin

Selected by Final Step Productions, Recycle Bin represents nearly two decades of ska-punk energy and underground nostalgia. Formed in 2007, the Bucharest-based band has become one of the longest-running and most energetic names in the local punk scene.

With four releases under their belt Stupidity Tour (2007), Pokemon & The Bastards (2008), Cronicile din Retardia (2010), and Împărăția Muștelor (2014) the band is equally familiar with both intimate club stages and major festival appearances, having shared stages with artists such as Guano Apes, Crazy Town, and Zdob și Zdub.

As this is an intimate club event hosted at Club Encore, capacity is limited, and organizers encourage attendees to secure their tickets in advance.
