Lupii lui Calancea will bring “Pădurea Domnească” to Arenele Romane, alongside Guz, in a show that blends rock music with authentic folklore.

“Pădurea Domnească” is the new album released by Lupii lui Calancea and places a fusion of rock and traditional folk music at its core, focusing on themes tied to memory, rural landscapes, and identity. The material follows a more personal direction, with songs built around recognizable imagery and stories, creating a performance that symbolically travels from the depths of the forest to the stages of major cities.
Alex Calancea, the founder of the project, directly connects the album to his childhood memories. “It is the forest of my childhood. A place filled with mystery and stories,” he explained.
The concert at Arenele Romane will feature the live premiere of the album’s new songs, alongside older tracks rearranged to fit the project’s current concept. On stage, Lupii lui Calancea will perform together with Guz, a collaboration already tested during a national tour across Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with stops in Cluj, Iași, Brașov, Constanța, and Chișinău.
Project founder Alex Calancea is one of the best known musicians and producers from the Republic of Moldova, recognized as a bassist and composer. Educated at the Conservatory in Chișinău and initially active in the jazz fusion scene, the artist gradually developed a signature style based on the fusion of rock, folklore, and orchestral elements.
The “Pădurea Domnească” tour continues the artistic direction established by VOIEVOD, one of the most ambitious productions created by Alex Calancea. Conceived as a choreographed rock opera, “VOIEVOD” combined symphonic music, rock, folklore, dance, and theater into a concept spectacle built around themes of downfall, rebirth, faith, and identity. The project was later adapted into a concert film and further strengthened the cinematic and theatrical style that now defines the artistic universe of Lupii lui Calancea.
