French band SLIFT is coming to Romania for the first time and will perform a concert in Bucharest on Tuesday, May 26, after 8:00 PM, at Control Club. Known for their hypnotic blend of heavy psychedelic and stoner rock, the Toulouse-based group is considered one of the most intense and spectacular live acts on the European rock scene.

Formed by brothers Jean and Rémi Fossat alongside drummer Canek Flores, the band quickly built a cult following in the international underground scene thanks to their expansive, intense sound and truly overwhelming live performances. Following their early releases, Space Is the Key and La Planète Inexplorée, SLIFT rose to wider prominence in 2020 with the album UMMON and their famous KEXP session filmed at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes, which has surpassed 1.7 million online views.

In 2024, the trio released ILION, a vast and intense album released through Sub Pop Records, confirming the band’s international rise and taking SLIFT on an extensive tour across more than 15 countries. Critics have compared their live energy and sonic scale to performances by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Led Zeppelin, and …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.

The Bucharest concert is part of the band’s new European tour and comes ahead of the release of their fourth studio album, Fantasia, scheduled for June 5 via Sub Pop Records. The new record was produced by the band at Daft Studios, mixed by Kurt Ballou of Converge, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg.

The first singles, A Storm of Wings and The Day of Execution, suggest a more direct and aggressive direction while preserving SLIFT’s signature psychedelic dimension.

According to the label, Fantasia is “a direct confrontation with the anxiety and absurdity of the contemporary world,” transformed into an intense and visceral sonic manifesto.

The SLIFT concert in Bucharest is organized by Control Club with support from OneDay.

Tickets, priced at 85 RON (general admission), are available online via Control Club, through the Eventbook network, and at the door on the night of the event, subject to venue capacity.
