Orkid will launch a new album on May 29 at Control Club, exactly 10 years after performing their first concert in the same lineup and on the same stage.

The latest edition of the Stray Lights Showcase brings Orkid together with D.E.N.I.S. for two special sets created exclusively for the occasion. Tickets are available online.
For Orkid, the May 29 concert marks a symbolic milestone: 10 years since the band’s first show in its current lineup, which took place at Control on May 29, 2016. To celebrate the occasion, the trio is releasing a new record, Eclipsa / În altă parte, a project radically different from anything they have released before.
The album was conceived as a mostly improvised solo performance, recorded live at Control in December 2025, and serves as the soundtrack for the animated film Eclipsa, co-directed by Vlad Ilicevici and Radu Pop, scheduled for release later this summer.
Self-described as “post-traumatic blues,” Orkid’s style moves through influences ranging from punk, garage, and shoegaze to post-metal, progressive music, and even contemporary classical music. Over their 10 years of activity, the band has released five studio albums: Standing Still in the Dark (2016), Suruaika (2018), Deraiat (2020), In the Light We Are Safe (2022), and Noi contra Noi (2023), and has played more than 300 concerts.
Throughout the years, Orkid has opened for international acts such as Mogwai, Death in Vegas, MONO, and Madrugada, while also maintaining close ties with independent visual arts and cinema. Their music has appeared on the soundtracks of the TV series Ruxx and the film Băieții buni merg în Rai.
The evening continues with a special set prepared by D.E.N.I.S., designed as a hybrid between the electronic performance they recently presented at Bazar de Muzică and their explosive rock concerts. The format promises an unpredictable performance built around aggressive synthesizers, dance rhythms, and the psychedelic energy that defines the band.
Founded in 2020 by Daniel Boiangiu, D.E.N.I.S. quickly became a standout name in Bucharest’s underground scene through intense live shows and a visual universe centered around the character Denis, the silent green-headed protagonist navigating the city’s alienation and hedonism. Following their debut release Miezul Nopții București, the band released Cuțitul de Argint in 2025, an album inspired by psychedelic music and cinematic soundtracks from the 1970s.
Stray Lights Showcase promises an evening dedicated to transformation, experimentation, and the fusion of music, cinema, and visual art, two unique performances created specifically for the Control stage.
Stray Lights operates as a support network for dozens of active alternative bands, including Cardinal, Orkid, D.E.N.I.S., Zammorian, Second Wave, Baby Elvis, PLANT, Valerinne, Methadone Skies, Midpoint, and Air Lines, a form of cultural resistance within a fragile music ecosystem.
“Stray Lights 2.0 is a necessity. A form of cohesion, collaboration, and mutual support between as many bands as possible that create alternative, relevant, and non-anachronistic music in Romania. (…) It’s not an agency, it’s not a label, it’s a small group of people trying to help each other and, from time to time, put on a show.” – Vlad Ilicevici, Orkid / founder of Stray Lights
