VUNK closes the „Suflet digital” chapter with „Nocturna”, Romania’s first fully vertical music video and one of the band’s most emotional projects.

VUNK releases „Nocturna”, the song that concludes the universe created around the album „Suflet digital”, alongside the deluxe edition of the record. At the same time, the band marks a milestone for Romania’s music industry with the release of the country’s first music video filmed entirely in a vertical format. Beyond its visual innovation, the project stands out as one of the most personal and emotional in the band’s career, as it features, for the very first time, the children of all VUNK members.
„Nocturna” is a song about time, about how we live it, how we give it away, and how we preserve it in our memories. With a running time of six and a half minutes, unusual by today’s music industry standards, the track blends the structure of a classical nocturne with the energy of contemporary rock, creating an introspective and cinematic soundscape.
“Our „Nocturna” breaks the mold. It is an unusually long song for these times, running for six and a half minutes, and it was filmed vertically, making it probably the first Romanian music video of its kind. It is also a nod to the classical piano composition form, the nocturne, while embracing rock music.
Most importantly, all of our children appear in this video. We specifically wanted that in a song that speaks about the year 2088, so that when they reach that time, 62 years from now, they can look back at today’s world and tell their own children, ‘These are your grandparents, and in their time, they tried to make the world a more beautiful place through music,’ says Cornel Ilie.
The song was written by Cornel Ilie, with production, mixing, and mastering by Călin Grăjdan. The music video was directed by NAEV Films.
For more than 30 years on Romania’s music scene, VUNK has been one of the leading innovators of Romanian rock. Throughout its career, the band has been behind numerous groundbreaking projects, including the first 3D music video, the first multimedia concert, a concert poster created entirely from GIFs, and the first music video filmed live on Facebook.
Singles such as „Pleacă” (Hit Gold), „Vino, du-te” (feat. Lidia Buble), „Vreau o țară ca afară” (a popular hit that became a national slogan), „Așa și”, and „Numai la doi” topped Romanian radio charts for weeks, cementing the band’s status as one of the defining acts of Romanian music.
In 2018, VUNK became the subject of the first documentary ever made about a Romanian artist, „Jur să spun adevărul”. Through technology, spectacular live shows, and songs with profound messages, the band continues to fulfill its vision of bringing people together while inspiring joy, confidence, and hope.
In 2025, the band continued its string of releases with songs such as „Te aștept”, „Aleluia, mi-e bine!”, „2 vulcani”, its collaboration with Anastasia, „Parfum de îmbrățișare” (feat. Eligarf), and „Scrisoare”. That same year, VUNK performed a symphonic concert at Sala Palatului, where it presented orchestral versions of its songs live for the first time. The event was followed by the release of „Se aude până la tine?”, a tribute dedicated to drummer Nicu Sârghea.
In 2026, the band released the album „Suflet digital”, unveiled during a special concert at Sala Palatului that combined acting, dance, and music in a performance set in the year 2088. This year, VUNK also released its first collaboration with Alexandra Ungureanu, the single „Dragostea cu mine”.
