Rock la Mureș XIV Opens Its Gates with an Edition Built Around International Premieres and Interdisciplinary Cultural Experiences

On July 10 and 11, Periam Port once again becomes the meeting point for one of the most established events dedicated to alternative culture in western Romania.
Now in its 14th edition, Rock la Mureș presents a program that goes beyond the conventional music festival format, creating a space where live concerts, visual arts, cinema, gastronomy, and creative interventions coexist in an environment designed for all generations.
This year’s edition features one of the strongest lineups in the festival’s history, bringing Romanian premieres from Rat Boy, Ductape, and The Cloverhearts, artists who occupy distinctive positions within today’s European alternative music scene.
They are joined by Native James, Lone Assembly, Raskolnikov, and Odpisani, all performing in Romania for the first time and completing a program focused on introducing internationally relevant alternative acts to local audiences. Representing the Romanian scene are BMC, SHE, Fittonia, and Pârnaie, projects currently establishing and strengthening their presence within the country’s alternative music landscape.

The musical program spans a wide range of styles, from post punk and darkwave to nu metal, hardcore, and Celtic punk, shaping an artistic identity where diversity serves as the festival’s curatorial principle. In this format, the Marosch Stage becomes a space dedicated to exploring some of the most dynamic expressions of contemporary alternative music, bringing together artists and genres that are rarely presented within the same event.
Once the concerts on the main stage conclude, the festival continues at the Cubici Stage, where the atmosphere shifts toward the musical aesthetics of the 1980s and 1990s. Curated by DJ Padre and Corina Sucarov, the selection moves through post punk, darkwave, synthpop, new wave, and goth, creating a soundtrack inspired by alternative club culture and the music that continues to influence today’s generations of artists.
The festival’s cultural dimension is further expanded through the Arts & Craft area, open throughout both festival days. Interactive workshops bring together artists and makers who share their creative practices through demonstrations, participatory sessions, and activities designed for children, teenagers, and adults, transforming the artistic process into a direct dialogue with the audience.
An open air cinema will also operate throughout the festival grounds, with screenings running across both days. The program begins each morning with films for children and continues with independent features and documentaries, extending the festival’s cultural offering beyond the concert schedule and naturally integrating cinema into the overall festival experience.
A dedicated space will also celebrate the traditional gastronomy of the Banat region, where local producers and artisans will showcase dishes representative of the area’s culinary heritage. Alongside these, visitors will find the contemporary food selection typical of major festivals, creating a dialogue between local identity and today’s urban food culture.
