About Thievery Corporation
Founded in 1995 at the Eighteenth Street Lounge in Washington, D.C., Thievery Corporation was created by musicians and producers Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. The duo quickly gained recognition for blending genres such as bossa nova, jazz, electronic music and dub into a distinctive sound that helped define the downtempo movement.
Throughout their three-decade career, the group has continuously expanded its musical horizons, incorporating influences from rap, reggae, Indian music and trip-hop. Their eclectic approach has earned them a loyal fan base around the world and established them as one of the most influential acts in the international electronic music scene.
Since their debut, Thievery Corporation has released ten studio albums, many of which have charted in countries including the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany and France.
The band’s multicultural identity is also reflected in its lyrics, which have been written and performed in several languages, including Portuguese, Romanian, Persian, Hindi, English and Spanish.
The upcoming Bucharest concert marks an important milestone for the duo as they celebrate 30 years of music, international success and a career built on crossing musical and cultural boundaries.
