Alternative Night Brings the Underground Scene to unteatru for an Evening of Independent Music, Special Guests and Live Performances

The alternative music scene will come together at unteatru’s new venue for Alternative Night, an event built around independent music and the community that supports it. Over the course of one evening, audiences will have the opportunity to discover 13 emerging independent artists, alongside three special guests and two live performances by steph. and Claiming Apollo.

The event begins at 6:00 PM with an open mic that moves beyond the traditional format. Thirteen selected independent artists will take the stage to present their music to the audience, while three special guests will also make appearances throughout the evening. Cristina Lupu, Alex Teodorescu, vocalist and guitarist of Jack of All Trades, and TUSOL, also known as Leonard Trailă, will each bring their own special moment to the stage, turning the open mic into an opportunity for discovery for both the audience and the artists themselves.

At 8:00 PM, the stage will belong to steph., a multidisciplinary artist whose live performances transform deeply personal experiences into a space somewhere between music and storytelling. Performing in a minimalist format featuring only voice and guitar, steph. will present material from the upcoming album Physics of the Basement, a deeply personal exploration of survival, trauma, vulnerability and resilience inspired by the artist’s own life.

Influenced by indie, alternative rock, pop and nu metal, steph.’s music speaks openly and directly about childhood and family, creating an intimate and authentic live experience that places emotional honesty at the centre of the performance.

The evening will conclude at 9:00 PM with Claiming Apollo, a band that has become a notable presence within the underground community through powerful riffs, energetic performances and poetic lyrics. The five musicians have performed in art galleries, clubs and unconventional spaces, gradually building a dedicated audience through intense and authentic live shows.

Following the recent release of their song “Grandeur,” Claiming Apollo is currently working on its debut album, which is scheduled for release later in 2026.

More Than a Series of Concerts

Alternative Night aims to offer more than a sequence of live performances. It is designed as an evening where audiences come for the music, discover new artists, meet people with similar interests and leave with the feeling of having been part of something larger than a single event.

Inspired by the atmosphere and energy of a festival, Alternative Night brings established names from the alternative scene together with musicians at the beginning of their journeys. The focus is not only on the performances themselves, but also on creating a space where new music, artistic discovery and community can meet.

Music, Community and a Few Surprises

Together with partner Senia Music, the organizers have also prepared a giveaway for those who purchase their tickets by August 20. Participants will automatically be entered into a draw for one of three prizes: a pair of JBL 104 BT Black studio monitors, AKG K361 BT headphones or an AKG Lyra C44 USB studio microphone.

The prizes, however, are intended as an extra element rather than the main attraction. At its core, Alternative Night is about building an experience around new music, unexpected discoveries and the sense of connection that comes from sharing a room with people brought together by the same passion.

Taking place on August 22, 2026, the evening begins at 6:00 PM with the open mic and special guests, followed by steph. at 8:00 PM and Claiming Apollo at 9:00 PM.

Alternative Night will be hosted at the new home of unteatru, located at Strada Secerei 14, Bucharest.

Tickets are available online through MyStage.
