From Berlin soul to psychedelic garage from the Balkans: bands from across Europe take the stage at MMB Showcase Festival 2026

MMB Showcase Festival, the festival associated with the international Mastering the Music Business (MMB) conference (MMB), returns to Bucharest from September 1 to 3, 2026, with three nights of concerts at Club Expirat. The festival brings rising bands and artists from countries including Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Germany, Greece, Estonia, Serbia and Bulgaria to the stage, in a selection ranging from soul and jazz fusion to noise rock and psychedelic garage.

For three nights, Club Expirat will host a new edition of the festival that, year after year, brings new names from across Europe before the Bucharest audience. The bands will perform both for the professionals attending the Mastering the Music Business conference  managers, booking agents, label and festival representatives, journalists, for whom each night could lead to a future collaboration, and for the general public, eager to discover new voices and sounds.

This year’s line up brings together artists with careers spanning more than two decades and newly emerging voices. Cluj based Grimus, one of the most representative bands of the Romanian alternative scene, who have opened for Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Placebo, share the bill with Greek artist Theodore, recognized by NPR for a Tiny Desk session, and CharlotteColace, the French Cuban soul artist from Berlin, recipient of the Listen to Berlin Artist Award 2025. From Estonia come TheBoondocks, multiple winners at the Estonian Music Awards, while from the Balkans come the psychedelic garage of Serbian band PhonyJob and the noise rock with analog video projections of Bulgarian band SLICR.

The Romanian scene is strongly represented by Alexandra Căpitănescu, winner of Vocea României and Romania’s representative at Eurovision 2026, and imstillFranci, a semifinalist in the same Eurovision Romania edition, two faces of the new wave. Joining them on stage are the jazz fusion of MarquisCollective, the psychedelic fuzz rock of Armand Popa, the art folk of Cristina Lupu, the nostalgic dream pop of duo miau.wav and the folk influenced R&B of Simona Delegeanu. The international lineup is completed by the electronic energy of Moldovan band Cosmos în Buzunar.

“You come to MMB Showcase Festival to discover what’s next in European music. This year, the selection is more varied than ever: we have French Cuban soul, jazz fusion, cinematic pop, art folk, psychedelic garage and noise rock. From bands with more than twenty years on stage to artists who are just releasing their first record, they all have one thing in common: they sound fantastic live. If you want to find out who tomorrow’s voices are, this is the best place to start,” said Cosmin Ionescu, Music Program Director at MMB Showcase.
The playlist featuring the confirmed bands can be heard here.

Admission to MMB Showcase Festival is free, subject to available capacity. Additional details about the artists and schedule are available on the official website.
