Dimitri’s Bats have released “Creatures of the Night”, a new single born from a beat, some vampires, too much production, rewrites, and a dog named Pluto. The track is one of the band’s latest explorations and is now available to stream on all major streaming platforms.

The story behind the song says as much about Radu Osaciuc’s creative process as it does about the track itself. While searching for ideas and hooks, Radu switched on the microphone to record a few vocal ideas. At the same time, Pluto decided to record his own lines, prompted by a siren heard outside. The result fit the instrumental so well that it gave birth to the lyric that would become the starting point for the entire song: “On and on like creatures of the night”.

Once the song began to take shape, however, the production process took an unexpected turn. As more and more elements were added, it became increasingly clear that the track was getting lost beneath its own layers. The solution was to return to the essentials: drums, vocals, bass, guitars, and Pluto’s track.

“Creatures of the Night” thus became a song shaped through experimentation, rewrites and a return to its essence, while still preserving the unexpected moment that sparked its creation. Beyond its unusual story, the single leaves room for personal interpretation, with Radu choosing not to explain the meaning behind the lyrics.

“I was thinking about telling you what the lyrics are about, but I don’t really want to do that. I have this idea, maybe a stupid one, maybe not, that one of the best things about music is that people can build their own worlds inside it. Their own stories. Their own meaning. Their own vampires, if necessary,” says Radu Osaciuc.

Dimitri’s Bats are one of the distinctive acts on Romania’s alternative pop scene. In recent years, the band has performed at major festivals in Romania and across Europe, including INmusic Festival in Croatia, Sziget Festival in Hungary, Electric Castle, ProWeekend Fest in Spain and Summer Well Festival. In 2025, Dimitri’s Bats were selected by IMPALA for its “100 Artists to Watch” list.
