Algerian band Imarhan are coming to Bucharest for the first time for a special concert on Saturday, November 7, from 7 PM onwards, at Control Club. The show promises an exploration of the sonic universe of their new album, Essam, bringing together traditional Tuareg music, desert blues, psychedelic rock and electronic experimentation.
The last tickets are available through the Eventbook network.

Imarhan are one of the most exciting and innovative bands on the contemporary North African music scene. Originally from Tamanrasset in southern Algeria, the five musicians have been redefining the boundaries of assouf, also known as desert blues, since 2006, combining their Tuareg musical heritage with influences from funk, psychedelic rock and pan African rhythms.
With an international career built around four studio albums and numerous tours, Imarhan have collaborated with artists such as Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), opened for Kurt Vile, and had their music remixed by Moscoman. Their openness to different musical worlds has made them an important name in the international dialogue between North African musical traditions and contemporary sounds.
Released in 2026, the band’s fourth album, Essam, meaning “lightning” in the Tamasheq language, marks a new chapter in Imarhan’s musical evolution. Recorded at Aboogi Studio, the space created by the band in Tamanrasset, the album keeps the identity and stories of the Tuareg community at its heart, while exploring broader sonic territories where traditional instruments meet modular synthesizers, electronic textures and folk pop influenced production.
The concert at Control gives Bucharest audiences the opportunity to experience this unique combination of hypnotic rhythms, guitars, percussion and electronic experimentation live, in a musical journey that crosses geographical and cultural boundaries.
The Imarhan concert in Bucharest is organised by Control Club, with the support of OneDay.
