Rock Monsters Romania

It’s Summer Well week, and the hype is growing not only for the big names like Palaye Royale or Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, but especially for the smaller bands that you discover at the festival and that remain all time favorites.

For its 15th anniversary, Summer Well did not disappoint when it comes to future stars, bringing exciting acts from both Romania and around the world. And this is what makes the festival so special.

We went through the already announced lineup, and it looks like each day brings at least one band that you should not miss.

Day 1: Getchoo

Friday night after work? What is better than rock? Well, a newcomer Romanian rock band.

Getchoo is a Bucharest based rock band formed in 2023. Known for blending raw vulnerability with warm distortion and impulsive shifts in energy, the group draws on a wide range of influences, including jazz, country, and hardcore. Their debut album, WILL, released in October 2024, was warmly received in the local underground scene, with standout tracks such as Boat/Tow Truck, Cadaver, and the ballad Today, Tomorrow.

We could probably tell you what they sound like, or maybe you have already read about them in our previous posts, but the truth is that you never know what to expect. And with a stage that is probably bigger than any venue they have played until now, they are set to deliver a great show. It is unfortunate that they are playing just before Charlotte Cardin, but hopefully they will still gather a big crowd.

Day 2: Rikas

The first Main Stage slot on Saturday always delivers, especially if you think about bands like Red Rum Club or Hayes & Y, which became fan favorites over the past few years.

This time, that spot belongs to Rikas, and I am pretty sure they will steal a few hearts with their style. The Germany based band will come to Buftea to celebrate both ten years since their first songs were written and the release of their new EP, Bedroom Tapes.

On record, they sound amazing, and if they bring the same energy live, we are all going to have a party in the sun. Personally, I cannot wait to hear Barcelona or Last Train To London live, as they will probably give everyone enough energy for the whole evening.

Day 3: Fat Dog

They came to Bucharest in 2025, and a lot of people said it was the best concert of March. Now they are ready to rock the stage once again, this time opening the Main Stage on Sunday.

Founded in South London in 2021 during the pandemic, Fat Dog are one of the rising names of the English electro punk scene, with their debut album, WOOF., becoming a huge success in 2024. This time, they are arriving with their upcoming album, Cancel Me (I’m Tired), which will be released on October 3, so we might even get to hear some unreleased songs.

If you are not scared of the extreme heat during their 5:15 PM set, then grab one or more bottles of water and come experience an exceptional show. Hopefully, they will not melt on stage.

Another mention for Day 3 goes to Armand Popa, probably one of the biggest breakthrough artist in Romanian music this year, especially after his set at Electric Castle.

So, if you want the full festival experience, do not forget to add these shows to your schedule alongside the big names. You will not regret it.
